Matt Christmas’ post on the work of ants in maintaining plant diversity was published recently in The Conversation here. This article attracted some interesting comments from ant lovers – who knew that ants had fans?
Nice to see some recognition coming to the humble ant – we tend to take them for granted or be irritated by them, but they perform some very useful functions – aiding biodiversity, as in Matt’s article, maintaining soil health, as in this research paper, disposing of plant and animal waste, and many other benefits.
